Our story
Nyakamenta began as thirty-eight hectares of red highland soil above the Kashari valley — coffee on the slopes, forest along the streams. For years we simply grew and sold the cherry. Then visitors started asking to stay.
"We never set out to build a lodge. We set out to share a hillside — the harvest, the fire, the first cup of the morning."
Today the estate is both a working farm and a small highland lodge. Everything our guests taste — the coffee, the honey, the eggs, the greens — comes from within a short walk of the bed they wake in.
Our coffee
Grown between 1,400 and 1,700 metres, hand-picked in two seasons, and dried on raised beds in the estate yard. We roast in small batches for the lodge and for our subscribers abroad.
Our flagship washed lot — bright, clean, and built for a slow pour-over morning on the deck.
Low-slope, full-bodied and bold. The backbone of the morning pot and our espresso blend.
A tiny honey-process batch from the highest rows. Released once a year, when the hill allows it.
Have the harvest delivered — a rotating bag from the estate, every month.

Every stay includes the estate walk. Add a roastery session, a forest hike, or a long table dinner — all led by the people who grow it.
Sustainability
We farm under native shade trees, compost the pulp back into the rows, and protect the stream forest that feeds the valley. Nearly everyone who works here lives within walking distance — and shares in the harvest.

Hand-built from estate timber and stone, each room opens to the valley. Rates include breakfast, the sunrise walk, and a bottomless pot of the morning's roast.
A snug double facing the coffee slopes, with a private veranda for the first cup.
Tucked into the stream forest — fall asleep to water, wake to birdsong and shade.
Our largest room, with a wide deck over the valley and space for a family of four.
